Senior Research Assistant, Oceans and Coasts

M.Sc. Environmental Science and Management

I am passionate about sea turtles and birds. For my Masters dissertation, I analysed the scope of community-based conservation of sea turtles in Kerala, which is a sporadic nesting site. I joined the Oceans and Coasts Programme after this to analyse the growing reef fisheries in Lakshadweep. I have wanted to work with the local communities for as long as I can remember and have had the privilege of working with the fisher community of Lakshadweep and Kerala. I strongly believe in the role of indigenous communities in nature conservation and decision making. I also enjoy writing in Malayalam. Currently, I am monitoring the ecological and social consequences of high population densities of green sea turtles in Lakshadweep.
