Moorthi, who is from the Kadar community in the Anamalai Hills, has been working with NCF Valparai almost continuously since 2002. He was earlier with research projects of WII team of researchers working on impact of fragmentation on various taxa. Moorthi has been integral to the long-term elephant project, where he was one of the keenest observers and trackers of elephant movements across the landscape. In recent years, he has worked on the rainforest restoration project, becoming one of our most skilled staff in plant identification and phenology observations, besides helping with field research and restoration.
