Records of ferret badgers Melogale from the states of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, India

Ferret badger Melogale is recorded for the first time from the Garo Hills of Meghalaya, India. Records came through cameratrapping,field sightings and a hunted animal. Two records from Balpakram National Park and two from community forest andshifting cultivation areas close to the park are all in the South Garo Hills; and one is from the village of Upper Rongkhon in theWest Garo Hills. The hunted animal confirms Burmese or Large-toothed Ferret Badger M. personata in the Garo Hills. Anotherrecord is from a village in Chayang Tajo Circle of East Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh.
