Nature Education Program

Nature Education Program was started in 2017. The goal is to expose children to the forests and wildlife around Pakke Tiger Reserve.

About Nature Education Program

2017 has been an exciting year for us because it witnessed the birth
of our Nature Education program. As a first step, we set up Nature
Clubs in seven local schools in the Seijosa area, through which we
hope to reach out to over 650 children from Classes 6-9. Our goal is
to expose children to the forests and wildlife around Pakke through
year-round activities and nature camps in the Pakke Tiger Reserve, in
collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Department. Dr. Pranav
Trivedi, our NCF colleague and expert in Nature Education, is helping
us design and execute the program. In January, Dr. Trivedi conducted a
5-day training program for our own as well as the Forest Department
staff on how to conduct nature camps for children. Later in June, he
conducted an orientation program for teachers from the local schools
who are enrolled with us. We are currently preparing for the nature
camps which are scheduled to happen in mid-November. These will be
exciting 3-day camps with 30-40 children at a time inside Pakke Tiger
Reserve, giving them an opportunity to experience the forest and learn
about it.
